Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Good day to all, SONDER went bankrupt over the weekend so thank you for helping me dodge that bullet!

On another note, when you issue a recommendation to "Buy/Sell/Hold" or when evaluating a company, what is your general timeline for investment?

Or is your report card grade more of a present and general evaluation of a company. The evaluations appear to me to be on point and detailed enough for my limited knowledge.

My investment psyche tries to be "buy and hold and enjoy dividends and growth" but everyone has their own timeline and strategies (or "strat" as my teens say)

As always, thanks for all you do.

5i Research Answer:

On our calls, unless specifically stated, we assume an 'average' investment timeframe of three years. Essentially, we are of the view that if an investor cannot commit to 36 months they should not be buying equities. The report card is a general evaluation and the ratings are meant to be a longer term (5 year+) indication. With the grades we are trying to gauge the company 'through a cycle'. In other words, how it might also perform (relatively) in a recession as well.
