Q: Is a 5 year return comparison of HXT and ZSP an apples to apples comparison? Is it total return in both cases, or should HXT return be a little higher as any dividends are reinvested?

5i Research Answer:

First, note that HXT focused on the TSX 60 and ZSP on the S&P 500. So they are apples/oranges right off the bat. But total return for ZSP includes dividends, and the return comparison itself is standard and common for both. Some may look at after-tax returns, and HXT may have an advantage here for investors in certain tax brackets.
