Q: GSY has been on a bit of a recovery run lately; is this the stock overcoming past weakness or due to business trends that are favorable for its growth? It has earnings coming up and has done well into them but if they report a higher than expected loss provision then the stock is likely to take a hit after its recent gains.
Any thoughts on what's driving the strength of GSY?

5i Research Answer:
Despite its share price weakness, GSY's ability to manage credit and losses has continued to be very strong over the past year. We think investors were essentially too worried, and that PRL was stealing the sector's momentum. But now GSY is outperforming PRL nicely, and still remains cheaper on valuation. We just think GSY was beaten up unnecessarily, considering its strong fundamentals. Some investors may be playing the 'lower interest rates' and 'no recession' trade. EPS growth is also expected to accelerate next year.
