Q: Is there a "safe" way for Canadians to invest in Chinese companies either with ADRs or ETFs?

The geographic risk is hard to remove in any material way so in our view, it is a risk that an investor simply needs to understand and accept if they are going to invest in this market. One way to gain exposure to the Chinese economy could be to own North American companies that generate revenues from this region. It might not be perfect, but helps to mitigate some of the risks.
