Q: Good Morning,

Retired income investor. Large position in BN with very low yield but growth potential.. Wondering if you thought it would be a good move to sell BN and buy BIPC, BEPC and BAM or any other suggestions. Have some of each already. Don’t need the money but this would improve cash flow which could be used to purchase more equities.

None of these securities would concern us much. BN, though, is more attuned to growth, with the others to income. So it really depends on an investor's goals. Instead of switching to other names with better yields, we think investors can sell a portion of BN position to fund future purchases of the others if higher yield is the desired outcome.  We like BN, as we think the company does provide a decent diversification within one name, trading at reasonable valuation and at the same time BN is also quite promising in terms of its ability to compound capital at a high rate. As the parent company it also gives indirect exposure to the others through its ownership of its subsidiaries. But for income-focused investors, we would be fine with a switch to more of the others.
