Q: MacDonald Dettwiler stock has been thro' quite a roller coaster ride during 2015, trading as high as $101 and touched a low of $71. Most believe this company to have a fairly unique business with niche is specialized satellite technology catering to Private/Government customers in civil and defence area. Last quarter was a bit soft due to slow satellite orders, which seems to be stabilizing if recent contract wins are any indication. You rate MDA as A- which is one of your highest ratings. I have just re entered the stock due to its dividend and capital growth prospects over next several years. What is your current opinion on this company with special comments on future growth and competition? Thanks

Q: I have owned CAE for a couple of years and despite winning contracts and continuing to lead the industry, the stock doesn't seem to be going anywhere (I am about break even). I am considering a switch to MDA but am wondering two things. Is MDA's risk profile substantially higher than CAE and secondly, the Canadian Stock Exchange website classifies CAE as an industrial stock and MDA as a tech stock. I have enough tech already but I would have thought these companies were actually quite similar and would have considered them both as industrials.

Your insight is always greatly appreciated

Q: What would be the catalyst to catapult MDA near to its 52 week highs of $101? I purchased a 4% position in November 2014, at $89, and rode the wave up, and then rode it back down. I'm still holding, having viewed all your recent responses to other members, within the last month, and have tried not to buy into the fear of sell offs. Is it wise to take it back up to 4% of my portfolio at this time, given the sale it's on, or should I sit tight and let it do it on its own? (I always hate to pass up a good sale, but if the shoes don't fit, and aren't likely to stretch a size or two, I wouldn't want to throw good money after bad. Thanks for your insight.

Q: I had planned to add to my holdings of MDA, I would like to move it from 3% to 5% of my portfolio. However I see it has dropped significantly today, and the recent chart looks like a waterfall. I would appreciate your recommendation - should I buy now on this dip or should I wait to see where it goes from here. Do you have any information regarding today's drop?
Thank you.

Q: Just saw the Q2 earnings. Q2 top line looks a little light and adj EPS of $1.20 looks to be a big miss vs estimate $1.57 (I saw your response to a question on July 20 where you mentioned $1.57 estimated EPS). ROE looks to be back in the mid teens after the blip last year due to the lawsuit settlement which seems to be a good sign (if i calculated correctly). Your thoughts on the earnings?

Q: Hello 5i Team,

Checking in for an update on MDA risks as discussed in your Nov 2014 report on MDA... Is currency a factor in the current slide in MDA? What is the status of the SSL litigation with ViaSat? You note in your report on MDA that there is a large customer based out of Russia - is there an issue there?

At these levels (closed at $82.82 today), it seems like a good buy... I sold my position last year at $94 and have been looking to re-enter since then.

Thanks - so great to have you in my court! Cheers! Heather

Q: I have held CAE for a couple of years and while is has gone up, it is does not appear to be set for any kind of dynamic growth. It has been particularly frustrating because it appears that it should - well capitalized, good backlog, growing area, unique technology among other advantages.

Would you consider switching this for MDA? I don't want to give up on CAE too early and there is nothing wrong with 10%+ growth annually but I am wondering if MDA could offer the same but within a "growthier" storyline.

Appreciate the insight.
