Q: Hi Team,

I have half positions of couple companies in my RRSP; BIN and CCL.B. I have cash for one topping up one right now -- any preference of one over the other today? Eventually I'll own full positions in both, but I don't really like holding much cash in the RRSP as I won't (hopefully) be withdrawing it for over 30 years. Just curious which way you'd go. I own most of the Balanced Equity portfolio.

Q: Any thoughts on the Exchange Income (EIF) financing? The press release says the financing is to "to pay down debt and for general corporate purposes". Do you think this signals EIF is on the lookout for another acquisition?

Lastly, any idea why the one analyst who has come out with EIF's estimated earnings for 2017 is expecting minus 44 cents per share?

Q: What are your thoughts on below 6 ETFs for 3 to 5 yrs at today price. I can buy 1/2 postion now and another 1/2 by Oct. Please advise and if you prefer another ETF.

Q: Can you tell me when the shares come off restriction? Iknow it is Sept. but what day? Also, is there a reasonable limit on how many options the executives of a company should award themselves and the strike price? Thanks.

Q: I will deploy cash soon from my kids RESP account, and I want to buy the companies in US. Since I can't hold US dollar cash in RESP account, I am thinking of buying below ETFs hedged in Canadian dollars.
10% -- ZUB (Financial Sector)
10% -- ZUH (Healthcare Sector)
20% -- ZQQ (Technology Sector)
5% -- ??? (Which ETF is equivalent to IWM?)
55% -- XSP (S&P 500)
Please comment on above combination and sector weighting. Thanks!

Q: I accept this REIT was not a good purchase as I am down 27% on it. With
the new prices and situation it is in, is it ok for add to for a small underweight holding.

I have a small amount of cash in my TFSA and could use a high dividend payer.
It is paying 10.5% and is buying shares in itself. When an outfit is buying shares
in a normal course issuer bid can it be interpreted the divvy payout is fairly safe?

Q: I am doing a dollar cost averaging plan monthly to buy dividend stocks. My retirement is probably about 25 years away and I will just hold these forever. I would like to start with the big banks. Would it be worth adding Brookfield Infrastructure also? Good dividend yield and quite good dividend growth so far. Or are the banks going to fare better in an (eventually) rising yield environment here? Thanks.

Q: First Question! Thank you for the scarlet letter/note warning on Monday. It was nice to know that others were biting nails too.

I am overweight financials at a whopping 29.3% holding. I own
FFH, MFC, POW, TD, AIG, BRK.B, JPM TVR, CXI. I am only underwater CXI and will face big capital gains on BRK.B (the most here), FFH, TD, AIG and to a lesser extent JPM, GS TVR (gains not the driver of the solution, but a consideration).
Can you rank the quality of the above listed investments? Which ones should I get rid of?
I was wanting to add MKL (US) as a buy and hold as I have more than a 5 yr horizon. Is it superior relative to any of the above?

Please doc me for three questions. Many thanks for your insights.

Q: You have indicated BEP as a higher rated stock but don't seem to have covered the other Brookfield companies. If I am intending on buying just one of the three companies would you recommend BEP? BAM seems to have a better P/E ratio, however, lower dividend.

Q: Hi,
I'm looking to take advantage of beaten down valuations of a big 5 bank and buy one while their prices appear attractive. I see the BMO has dropped the most of its peers by far this year with Scotiabank the next "biggest loser". I've noticed you guys have suggested BNS in response to recommendation questions from others in recent days. Any reason for a case for BNS over BMO or any of the other big 3 banks in the current climate?
