I hold shares in Transalta Corp. (TA). I have had it for many years and has always been a solid, good dividend paying company. Now I see it is have difficulties. Would you recommend it as a long term hold or do you think it has had its day and I should cut my losses and move on?

Q: TranAlta has just announced a preferred share offering, they cumulative rate reset 1st preferred shares series E. Redeemable 2017 at 25.00 and will pay 5% annually (1.25 per share) on a quartely basis. Given TransAlta's recent record would you be a buyer of these preferrred's?
