Q: Good afternoon Peter and Team:
In considering an investment in this year's TFSA for a 45-year-old long-term investor(at least 10-15 years time frame), GUD is being considered. Looking at the TMX website, it shows a beta of -0.379. What are the implications of such a low correlation to the overall market in a fairly well-balanced portfolio that already holds CLU.C, CXI, DHX.B, FSZ, MDA, VET, and WSP? Would GUD be a good fit for this year's contribution, or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your valued advice and fantastic service.

Q: This large Gamesys acquisition by Intertain Group appears to have similarities to Amaya's transformational deal. When Amaya announced the deal, you were bold with your projections and subsequent share price appreciation supported your thesis. What would be your analysis and thoughts around future success of the Co.? Do you foresee a decent upside to share price from current level ($17)? Thanks

Q: Hello

What is the dividend yield on DOL? It pays an 8c dividend quarterly and current market price is about $60.

As per TMX money the yield is around 1.05% http://web.tmxmoney.com/quote.php?qm_symbol=DOL:TSX

I come up with a different number when I calculate it:
($0.08x4)/$60 = 0.53% dividend yield.

What am I missing?

Thank you

Q: I own some ADW.A stock and have been considering adding to my position. From comments by one analyst, I understand that the value of some assets (e.g. land holdings) may not be reflected in the stock price. I value your opinion.

Thanks,

Ted

Q: Good day!
What can you tell us about NYX? The stock price seems to be going straight up. Does this look like an investment opportunity? Would this be a good time to buy? Is this a potential company for a take over?
Thank you.
David

Q: Just looking at the Financial Post article of January 25, 2015 on this company-they just paid off the remaining debt and are in a free cash flow situation. I would suspect that if gold finally makes and upward move, this company would move very well with it. What do you think?

Q: Hello, every one, Could you please help me to understand the current earning report of GIB.A, in which earnings expanded, but revenue was slightly shy of expectations. Since this is a growth stock, I thought missing revenue estimates would have negative impact on it. But the stock rose upon earning release. Your thoughts please. In addition, what is your view of this company? Also the company's debt level is high, will they issue more shares to acquire other companies in the future, if yes, how will this affect the stock?

Thanks,

Lin

Q: I find AGT interesting and have done some basic research. I had looked at it a few years ago when they were starting out. In hindsight it would have been a very good investment. That said you can’t buy much Beer with hindsight.

Since I first looked at it the growth has been very impressive and they have diversified into “Value Added” products.

I understand that Agricultural Commodities have a lot of risk and the Food Product business is very competitive.

That said it appears that AGT has found a “niche” that they understand very well.

I noticed that at one point that “The Carme Trust” controlled by Murad Al-Katib owned 26% of the company. In January 2014 that was reduced to 16.7%. It’s considered a good thing if management has substantial “skin in the game” but too much control by the CEO can be a double edged sword.

I don’t know if the reduction in the family’s holdings and control should be considered negative, positive or irrelevant.

Over the last year or so the growth in the company and increase in the share price has been impressive.

Another thing that I noticed unless I missed something is that the over-allotment on the recent Bought Deal (Nov 2014) at $28 was not taken up. If that is a fact it could suggest that the market felt that $28 was a bit expensive.

I am considering starting a position in AGT with the view to build it over the next few months depending on how things go for a mid or better yet long term investment.

The only other exposure that I have to Agriculture / Food is Agrium (AGU) and Premium Brands (PBH)

Your thoughts?
