Q: I'm looking to increase international exposure inside a TFSA account focused on long term growth. Is there enough difference between these two to own both ? If only one, which one would you add?

thanks

5i Research Answer:

Both ETFs are broadly diversified in terms of holdings and regions. They span across developed countries such as Japan, the U.K., France, and Switzerland. The ETFs have some differences but the broad exposures are fairly similar with a high weighting toward financials and Japan. We think they are close enough that only one 'needs' to be owned but also different enough that we wouldn't be too concerned with owning both.

VIDY is heavily concentrated in the Financial sector, while VIU is a bit more diversified across industries. If we had to pick one, we would lean toward VIU.
