Vanguard FTSE Developed ex North America High Dividend Yield Index ETF (VIDY $39.06)
Q: Good morning, I currently use ETFs for foreign investments and I now have a large position in ZDI. I like it's growth and dividend. I have been looking at VIDY recently for diversification. I like it's growth rate of the last 5 years (does not have 10 year history). Can I have your thoughts on both these etf's and any other growth oriented ex-north-america etf's. Thank you.
5i Research Answer:
Since VIDY's inception, it has slightly outperformed ZDI in that timeframe, when including distributions. Both have performed simiarly, however. VIDY has a slightly better MER of 0.32% vs. ZDI at 0.44%, and VIDY has a marginally better AUM.
We would give VIDY the slight edge today, although both names are very similar. We also like VIU, but it has underperformed VIDY, and is similar to ZDI.
