Q: If telus sells it's towers, will they have to pay "rent" or lease them back?. What would be the net results to their earnings, since the sale would be a one time event to pay down the debt, I hope.

Thanks

5i Research Answer:

Telus we think would still want to control its towers, but could sell a 50% interest in them. This would be estimated to be worth about $1 billion. But note current total obligations are close to $30 billion, so it would not likely result in a huge difference to fundamentals. Still, any improvement in the balance sheet would likely be met positively by investors.
