Q: Hello,

Can I please get your view on Murphy Oil (MUR). Could this be the US version of Alimentation Couche-Tard (TSX:ATD) into the future?

MUR operates largely as an oil and gas producer rather than the convenient stores and gas stations business that ATD operates in. MUR’s business is more cyclical, capital-intensive and sensitive to commodity prices. The companies that we think resemble the US version of ATD are MUSA and CASY, both have been solid long-term performers. We think MUSA and CASY are worth putting on an investors’ watchlist.
