How were GRD earnings today, good, bad, neutral? and how do you view prospects moving forward?
Given shares are down a bit today would you still consider this an opportunity to initiate a position at current price?
Can you explain in laymens terms what these guys do, who competitors might be and where they fit in the overall AI picture? Are they mostly a software or hardware company?
Thx
We hav e posted comments on earnings yesterday. We still think it can be bought. GRID helps electric, water, and gas utilities modernize the grid by collecting data from meters and other field devices, moving that data over its communications network, and turning it into software and analytics utilities can use to operate more efficiently. It sells the “brain and nervous system” for parts of the utility grid: devices in the field, the network that connects them, and software that helps utilities monitor outages, manage demand, automate distribution equipment, and improve customer service. GRID also provides a platform spanning connected devices, communications, data management, applications, and analytics. Revenue comes from two main buckets: Connected Devices & Infrastructure, and Utility Software Applications & Services. GRID is both hardware and software, with a data overlay. It sits in the “AI for critical infrastructure” part of the AI story, not in the chatbot or consumer AI world. The closest competitors are companies in smart metering, utility communications, and grid software such as Itron, Landis+Gyr, Trilliant, and Sensus. Bigger industrial or utility-tech names can also overlap with them depending on the product area, but those four are the most direct comparisons from the market profiles I found. In market terms, Tantalus is much smaller and more specialized than those large incumbents.
