Avanti Helium Corp. is a Calgary-based exploration company focused on helium extraction in western Canada and the US, targeting growing demand in aerospace, semiconductors, and medical sectors. As a pure-play helium firm, it holds significant acreage with high helium concentrations in nitrogen-rich gas. Avanti specializes in helium trapped in geological structures, led by CEO Chris Bakker with over 20 years in oil and gas. Incorporated in 2011 and rebranded in 2022, it operates with 100% interest in its assets and aims to become a leader in helium supply amid global shortages. Its key project is Greater Knappen (Alberta/Montana): ~74,000 acres with helium in Devonian and Cambrian zones; features the Sweetgrass pool with existing wells producing up to 10-15 MMcf/d raw gas and ~100-150 Mcf/d helium. AVN stock is up 168% YTD as the Iran conflict potentially creates a helium shortage. But even so it is a tiny company at $52M market cap. It has little cash, no revenue, losses and negative cash flow. Insiders own 11% and have been buying. Interesting, but very high risk. The end of the war would probably see a big correction in the stock.
