Q: Can you explain a bit about Anduril and how it currently and in the future might impact Kraken. How much overlap is there? Do they compete in the same arena? It was mentioned that Anduril is going public. How might this impact Kraken?

5i Research Answer:

Anduril Industries is a prominent U.S. defense technology company focused on autonomous systems powered by AI. Founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey and others, it develops products like drones, surveillance towers, and command software to modernize military operations. Anduril specializes in counter-drone tech, unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles, and the Lattice AI platform for integrated battlefield awareness. Its Arsenal-1 facility near Columbus, Ohio, is under construction to mass-produce these systems, aiming to outpace rivals like China.

Kraken supplies critical subsea batteries and sonar technologies that are integrated into Anduril's autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), such as Dive-LD and Ghost Shark programs. This integration positions Kraken as a key supplier, with Anduril relying on these components for production-scale manufacturing rather than optional add-ons. Analysts expect this partnership to continue, especially with Anduril's new contracts—like a billion-dollar Australian Navy deal for Ghost Shark XL platforms and U.S. Navy selections—which align with Kraken's expanding battery production capacity in Halifax. Kraken holds a Master Supplier Agreement with Anduril, and discussions confirm active supply as a top-tier partner. The relationship could drive substantial revenue for Kraken, potentially hundreds of millions annually from Anduril's hyperscale facilities targeting 200+ Dive-LD units per year, making Kraken a public proxy for Anduril's underwater growth. We would not consider them competitors. Anduril's IPO itself will not directly impact PNG, but it will raise more awareness of the company to US investors. If Anduril expands (with access to capital) this will also impact PNG positively.
