Q: BHP's Jansen project in Saskatchewan has been getting lots of publicity lately. Slated to start producing in 2026 apparently it will ultimately produce something like 10% of world's potash. What are the implications for world price, and companies like CCO and NXE? Are they still buyable, or is it wait and see.?
5i Research Answer:
Jansen's potash mine is more likely to impact NTR than CCO and NXE which are uranium. While it does add to global production, the mine has been in development for a long time and is not news to sector investors. NTR has risen 36% this year even with new production about to come on stream. We would remain comfortable recomming NTR. CCO and NXE still look good for the uranium sector.
