Q: I have held the Mawer Small Cap Global fund for several years. performance hasn't been too good in my mind. I am just about flat since original investment. How does this compare to other similar funds? Can you suggest other choices that may be a better choice?

5i Research Answer:

Fees are 1.79% and it has a two-star Morningstar rating right now. Since-inception return is 9.7% but 10-year is only 6.6%. It did very well in its early years. Five year is 2.5%. Fidelity Global Small Cap has lower fees and a better history, but much shorter tenure. Recent performance (one year) is much better, though. VSS is an ex-US global small cap ETF also with better performance and much lower fees. SCZ is another ETF otion that looks better.
