Q: I am going to add to my gold holdings which currently consists of only the Canadian etf XGD. I would like to have exposure to physical gold as well and am trying to decide between ZGLD:CA, PHYS:CA or PHYS:US (or any other suggestions you may have). Comments please.

5i Research Answer:

PHYS:US is our go-to gold ETF. It is large and liquid ($12 billion in assets), bullion is stored outside of the US (in the Royal Canadian Mint), and it tracks the gold price very closely. Units can be converted to physical gold (in minimum amounts). We (Peter) were involved in the initial set up of this fund and it compares very well with peers.
