Just wondering the best avenue to invest it Bitcoin or Etherium directly. I dont want to do the whole wallet route and want to hold in my brokerage account. With that said is there a product that directly moves with the ETH and Bitcoin? Are either of them buys in your eyes? Thanks
Without setting up a digital wallet, there are a few fairly reputable crypto exchanges that allow investors to directly hold these assets, however, there are security concerns with holding on exchanges as well. Crypto exchanges can be hacked, without proper security, a users' account can be compromised, etc. Alternatively, Wealthsimple allows investors to buy the assets directly, but this would be in an unregistered account.
We prefer ETFs that directly hold and track the price of these assets. For Ethereum, we like ETHQ, ETHA, and for Bitcoin we like IBIT and FBTC.
If an investor has a long-term timeframe, we would be comfortable slowly averaging in at today's prices, however, these are assets with significant volatility, and historically they have seen 70%+ drawdowns across the cycles.
