The Federal Reserve was the largest newsmaker this week and drove markets higher, as the FOMC left its policy rate unchanged for a sixth straight meeting, while projecting that an increase is still likely by year-end. The NASDAQ hit an all-time high Thursday. In Canadian news, CXI finally received its banking license and the stock is up 9.8% over the last five days. Publisher Torstar (TS.B) has agreed to sell the land and buildings of the former printing plant of the Toronto Star for about $54.3M. Here are five stories that caught our attention this week:

  1. Gold can preserve wealth but creating wealth is more challenging.
  2. Understanding both sides of the market valuation debate.
  3. How to manage the largest sovereign fund in the world.
  4. Europe and Japanese ETFs see the largest fund outflows in 2016.
  5. Can oil majors effectively manage capital?
