Five from 5i – Is the biggest risk no risk?

5i Staff May 13, 2016

Earnings season continues as does the trend of mixed results from various companies but overall the quarter for most companies does not appear to be as bad as feared. As we write, Concordia Healthcare is up over 15% with a good revenue number helping to alleviate some fears after some peers reported weak results. Meanwhile, companies continue to raise dividends across industries with Enercare, Power Financial, AirBoss, Badger and Weston raising dividends to just name a few. Oil has also seen some recent strength with the help of supply disruptions even on the heels of stories out of Russia that OPEC is more or less 'done'. The resilience in oil should bode well for energy names. Otherwise, below are some stories we thought were worth a read this week:

1. 15 factors that drive your risk/return expectations.

2. The reason investors are holding equity allocations at 2007 levels.

3. Which Warren Buffet do you aspire to be?

4. Regulator anti-trust concerns are a $400B headache for M&A hedge funds.

5. The FED avoids using the market as a predictive recessionary tool.
