5i Research Weekly Rockets and Duds
This week's 5i Research Rockets

and Duds

Archer Aviation Inc. ACHR

Oops, wrong emoji.

There, that's better. Archer, developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, 'took off' (get it?) last week and the stock rose 51%. What happened? Well, if you have ever been to Los Angeles, you know the horrible traffic situation there. It once took me longer to drive to an LA Kings game than it took for the game to run from start to finish. Now, imagine LA traffic, but DURING THE OLYMPICS. Wouldn't it be nice if you could skip all that traffic, and hop in your own plane that can take off like a helicopter? Apparently, LA OLympic committee members had that thought too, as they selected Archer as the official air taxi provider for the LA2028 Olympics.

Quantum Computing Inc. QUBT

We can't put out another Rockets and Duds blog without a mention of a quantum computing stock. QUBT rose 50% last week on strong quarterly results and 'strong momentum both operationally and financially'. The stock is still down 28% in 2025, but up 1,473% in the past year. Is it a good buy now? You tell us, based on its revenue in the first quarter. This $1.7 billion company had revenue--wait for it--of $33,000 in the first quarter. That's thousand, not million. Does that valuation, um, seem expensive to you?
